Cool but not perfectReview date: 2010-09-06 Rating: 8 out of 10Being a lazy SOB and a gadget man I thought this would be cool to keep interest in the garden. It is handy enough and cuts reasonable although the thicker branches can be a challenge. Seems to last a long time on the battery but I do wish they had sacrificed battery life for some more strength though.

a really good buyReview date: 2010-09-03 Rating: 8 out of 10My husband bought these secateurs for me, as I have been struggling with ordinary ones for some time, because of arthritis in my thumb. This product is great for people like me, who can't resist getting in the garden for a good snip! No after-effects on my thumb at all. I was a bit concerned about the safety aspect of the product as I have been known to draw blood when using ordinary secateurs, as I tend to get carried away! But infact the cutting job is safer, as the motion of cutting is very controlled, and no wires to worry about. This product would also be a good additional tool for any gardener, as it makes lighter work of the job. It also cuts through thicker wooden stems than ordinary secateurs. They were bought to prune a hedge and therefore had to be held in the hand for a long time. The weight did make the wrist ache after about 30 mins or so. I had to return it for a refund.
The trigger goes fully forward within the guard as you can see in the illustration. You need to fiddle around to get your finger in front of the trigger every time you put it down.
The jaws sensibly limit the size of stem you are pruning but the blade only goes halfway along the length leaving the stem half cut through if you have not pushed the jaws completely up against the stem.
Worst of all it wont cut dead stems that fit inside the jaws only fresh green stems.
Finally it is pretty slow to complete the cut even fully charged.
As I said I had to send it back and go back to my good old Felco Secateurs. This is the first Bosch product I have not been happy with.
